    [00] Brief

Rivero's warehouse, available inside the AI tools people already use. Anyone at Rivero can add the WMS to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other MCP client, sign in with their Rivero account, and work with live warehouse data next to everything else they have connected: ask questions, build reports and put them on a schedule, onboard users. The server runs inside the platform's NestJS API, so every request acts as the person who signed in, with their permissions and nothing more.

    [01] Problem

Warehouse answers lived behind the WMS screens or an engineer's SQL, and an early MCP spike ran as a separate service with its own copy of identity and permissions. An AI client on production data is only acceptable if it can never see more than the person using it.

    [02] Build

Moved the server into the NestJS API and gave it an OAuth 2.1 authorization server built to the MCP 2026-07-28 spec: discovery, client registration, a consent screen where the person chooses read or read and write, and tokens that only work on this server. The tool list is the permission check: each person is offered only the tools their access unlocks. Every tool calls a use-case the app already has, and one registrar handles rate limits, result size, safe retries and an audit row for every call.

    [03] Result

Teams connected their own Claude and ChatGPT accounts to the warehouse with no token to copy and used it alongside the rest of their connectors: querying warehouse data, building reports and scheduling them, onboarding users and more, each person inside their own permissions, every call on the record.
